Smokey Mountain Elopement

smokey mountain elopement

This elopement in the Smokey Mountains had everything, a frame-worthy sunset, a beautiful couple, and even a secret photo spot I discovered entirely by accident (more on that later).

There’s no place quite like the Smokies and getting married there never disappoints! This sweet elopement was held at Newfound Gap on a warm day with just the couple and a few select friends and family. I happen to think this is the best way to get married because you have time to really enjoy the day with the people you love instead of spreading too thin with a multitude of guests.

The ceremony happened in a tucked away spot just off the parking area with beautiful views and then we ventured out for photos afterward. My favorite has to be the one at the top of this blog post, we got so lucky with that sunset and how the light bounced off them just right. It was such a magical moment and to think it was taken at an unassuming pull off at the roadside! This location offers views like this at every turn.

Now, for that secret spot. I got to the venue a little early to scope out the best places for photos and ended up wandering off the beaten path and stumbled across an amazing wooded area. I won’t give directions in this post (that’s sadly how special spots get overused) but I am eager to go there again with future couples! I think it looks like a wooded wonderland and that was entirely unexpected!

I couldn’t have asked for a better evening with a nicer couple who were so obviously in love that it shone right through every photograph. I can’t wait for the next Smokey Mountain elopement!
