This wedding at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens was so intimate and magical and one of my favorites that I’ve photographed.
I love being a part of a couple’s big day especially when it’s put together as thoughtfully as this one. The venue was lovely with its cozy ceremony space, open meadow, and even a secret garden. When they told me they booked this spot for their wedding I was very excited!
We started with the first look between the bride and her fiance, backlit by the setting sun. Their reactions to each other were so sweet and one of the reasons I love including first looks whenever possible. You’ve spent a lot of time and energy putting yourself together for the occasion and getting your partner’s reaction to that is part of the payoff!
Their ceremony came after and included a lovely moment’s where the groom danced with his daughter while the bride and her father sang. I’d never seen that before and it was such a unique moment, not a dry eye in the house.
Once the couple was officially hitched we set off in search of some epic spots for after photos and the Knoxville Botanical Gardens did not disappoint. My favorite area had to be the secret garden tucked away that felt like a little maze straight out of a fairy tale. The light was soft and romantic and I certainly had some great subjects who were game for all my prompts and poses.
These two were so much fun to work with and their wedding day was filled with love and laughter. I can’t wait to get back out to the Botanical Gardens again now that I know what a perfect space it is for a small, intimate wedding.
